Experience impressions of the Pines hike in our video

Our guided hike in Pines starts in the picturesque mountain village of Pines and takes you along narrow traditional paths to spectacular viewpoints over Mirabello Bay. This tour combines scenic diversity with cultural highlights and is ideal for anyone who wants to experience Crete actively and together.

Tour itinerary

Our hike begins in the charming mountain village of Pines. On the outskirts of the village, we take a narrow, traditional path, accompanied by the scent of wild oregano and thyme. The trail runs along easily accessible gravel paths and leads between centuries-old dry stone walls that once supported the terraced fields of the region.

Historical & scenic highlights

The historic mills of Pines are a special resting place, quietly telling the story of the region's rural past. Here we offer a short break to let the atmosphere sink in.

Panoramic views

The rest of the trail runs through sparse vegetation and rewards you with breathtaking views of the Venetian fortress island of Spinalonga and the turquoise blue Gulf of Elounda.

Return

For the return journey, we choose a different path that leads gently downhill through sparse olive groves back to Pines. The hike ends where it began – relaxed and filled with new impressions.

Note on the route:
Some sections of the hike can be a little rough and lead us through wild vegetation at times. Long trousers are an advantage here – otherwise you'll end up with scratched legs! But these little challenges are what make the tour truly adventurous!

This hike is usually possible all year round, but adjustments may be made in case of heavy rain or extreme weather conditions.
